RadicalRx Show Episode: Scans, Celebrations, and Radical Gratitude
Welcome to the RadicalRx Show, where we explore radical strategies for living, learning, and thriving in this beautiful, messy world. I’m Ellen K. Martin, and today is a very special episode.
Tomorrow, I’ll be celebrating my 60th birthday! Can you believe it?! I can’t! It seems like just yesterday I was turning 50…
But today, I spent the day at the VA Medical Center for my quarterly cancer scans.
Instead of focusing on the drudgery of hospital visits, I chose to embrace the day with Radical Joy and Gratitude.
Let me take you through it.
This morning, instead of rushing out the door because I was running late for my appointments, I grabbed a cup of matcha and took some time to center myself before heading out.
Leaving a little later turned out to be a blessing despite my tardiness, as I avoided some traffic accidents on the freeway which would have caused me to be late anyway! That small moment of peace and reflection set the tone for the entire day.
When I arrived at the VA, each appointment flowed smoothly, and I found joy in unexpected moments.
One of the highlights was meeting an incredible woman after my last appointment.
As I was heading out to go home, I heard music coming from upstairs, and I felt compelled to follow it.
I think SUE (Spirit, Universe, Elohim) was nudging me – as usual – through music.
This led me to a conversation that touched on life, mindset, food, and even cancer. Before I knew it, this woman invited me to be a guest on her show, and I invited her to my podcast.
It was such a meaningful reminder of the beauty in spontaneous connection.
If I had been grumpy and anxiety-ridden, instead of joyful and centered, I might have missed out on a beautiful connection.
As for my scans, I don’t have the official results just yet, but I’m feeling optimistic.
Over the past two years, my scans have shown stability, and the last set in September even showed some improvement.
I’m holding onto hope that these results will reflect further progress.
Focusing on gratitude and joy has made all the difference on this journey, and today was no exception.
Instead of Scanxiety, I experienced Radical Joy and Gratitude.
Now, onto the celebration!
To honor my 60th birthday, I’m hosting a virtual open house at the RadicalRx Island Retreat, and you’re all invited!
Whether you want to hang out and chill or dive into live Q&A sessions about AI and immersive learning, there’s something for everyone.
I just want to hang out and chill, but I also love to teach, so for the next week, I’ll be celebrating my 60th birthday by holding some special Q&A and training session at the RadicalRx Virtual Retreat.
So, if you can’t make it on my Birthday, I’ll be doing it again on Saturday and throughout the week.
I really hope to have the opportunity to connect with all of you to catch up on old times or get to know one another better.
You can also visit my virtual photo booth to share your photo and favorite memories with me.
I’ll be creating a memory book to commemorate this milestone, and I’d love for you to be part of it.
The link to RSVP is in the comments, and here’s the best part—no trains, planes, or automobiles required!
It’s all happening in the virtual space I created– the RadicalRx Island Retreat.
And if you’re listening to this a week or even a month or more from now, don’t worry—the celebration doesn’t stop. The 60th Birthday Bash Experience will remain open indefinitely for you to relive the memories anytime.
Again, thank you for being part of this journey with me.
Your support, connection, and presence mean the world!
And as always, don’t forget to breathe.
