NaPodPoMo Day 19: The Impact Ripple – How Small Groups Create Big Change
Welcome to the RadicalRx show, where we explore radical strategies for living, learning and thriving in this beautiful, messy world. I'm Ellen Martin, and today I want to introduce you to a concept I call the Impact Ripple. It's about how small, intentional actions can create waves of transformation, not just for you, but for those around you and beyond. Let's explore how this works, especially through the power of what I call 8 Space groups.
Let's start with the power of small groups. In the RadicalRx framework, we focus on groups of eight… intentionally small, intimate spaces where connection, collaboration and growth happen. These groups are where transformation begins because they're manageable, personal, and deeply impactful. Each group is like a pebble dropped into a pond. The connections and changes that happen within one group, they don't just stay there. They inspire members to take action and sometimes start their own groups, or to even carry the principles into other parts of their lives.
That's the ripple effect.
Here's the beautiful part. When members of an 8 Space group experience growth, they naturally want to share it. They might start another group, bring these ideas to their families, workspaces or communities. Or maybe they simply inspire others through their own actions. Let's look at a hypothetical example of what it might look like. Imagine someone in a group focused on Radical Courage. They take what they've learned and they start a similar group for young mothers or veterans, creating a new pebble in a different pond.
And the ripples continue.
So why is this important? Well, first of all, let's talk about scalability. This approach shows that we don't need to tackle change on a massive scale to make a big difference. That's what we've been taught. But I believe that starting small with just eight people can lead to exponential impact over time. Now, RadicalRx is not just about personal transformation. It's about creating a movement.
These ripples have the potential to reshape communities and to spark positive change in ways that, you know, we can't always predict.
So what's next? I'm going to talk about the whole idea of this ripple effect in more detail later, and I'll talk more about the 8 Space concept and how it all fits in with RadicalRx.
So I'm going to leave you with a question: “Who's in your eight? What group of people could you connect with to start your own ripple of change?”
Thank you for being here with me today. And until next time, don't forget to breathe!
