Dr. Joe's groundbreaking work as a master health coach, exercise therapist, author and unforgettable motivational speaker has impacted thousands over the past 20 years. He is the creator of the renowned Fire Your Diet Food Pyramid, the highly effective 22 minute workout, and a professional vitamin formulator.
For Dr. Joe, it's all about helping individuals see results. His proven tools are motivation, resistance, exercise, cardiovascular training, rehabilitation and nutrition. His clients come from all walks of life and have ranged in age from infant to age 92. They consistently see their health and lives improved with his health and expertise. His formulations of goat protein called muscle goat protein, goat colostrum, immune system balance and his goat ghee, mom's butter are only are the only vitamins and supplements in the industry, never ever mass produced.
So welcome to the show, Joe.
Ellen, thank you for that wonderful introduction. I'm excited to be here. Lots to talk about. Let's go.
All right. So Joe, you and I were having a conversation on the phone. Was that yesterday already? Yes, it was. And we were talking about protein. And there's so many things about protein out there. It's like you need lots of protein or other people say, no, you don't need that much protein and you know, plant based versus animal based protein.
There's so much confusion. I would love to hear what you think about protein and not just what you think, but what does, what does the science say?
I'm going to talk about this. I'm going to give what's called the terrible truth. First of all, the processing of the food and the vitamins is the biggest thing that nobody talks about. Look at certain countries and I'll use Italy as the best example.
They stuff their face all the time. They don't have any, many very minimal health problems. Right. Because their food isn't as processed as ours. So I know a number of people who've been in Italy who drank wine, stuffed their face. They all lost weight. Interesting. It's about the processing in our country. Always say you need more protein. More protein. No, you need more digestible protein. The things that digest the best in the human body and it's proven in science, are goat milk takes about 20 minutes, eggs similar and fish, fish takes a little bit longer.
The point is these are the better options. But here's the problem, Ellen. It's how the things are made. So, example, when you say, I'm gonna have fish, well, if you're having fish fry from a fast food restaurant, that's not fish. Sorry.
Right.
Or if you're having eggs from a local restaurant, that's not the best kind of eggs. It matters. People say, it doesn't matter. Yes, it matters. It really matters.
And think about our country. And they'll say, eggs elevate cholesterol. But Wonder Bread's cholesterol free. That's a complete scam. Read the labels. Because the sick society is one that pays into people. People having, you know, the economy. If the entire world did not take medication, Ellen, we would have. No, we'd be in trouble financially as a country. They want you on medication. They do. If you're 50 or 60 years old and you take no medication, you're kind of worthless to society from an economic standpoint.
And the doctors think there's something wrong with you if you don't take any medication, don't they?
Yeah. I have an 87 year old client right now. He has nothing. And the doctor said, why aren't you? He goes, why should I be?
There you go.
It's. It's all about choice. So anyway, to go back to the whole protein thing. So you want stuff to be digestible. And if you look at the data, cow takes two hours to digest.
Plant based takes three to four hours. Here's the thing about plant based. I think people need salad. I think people need plants. Plant based is fake. Plant based. The burger, by that, okay, It's. It's not real food. In other words, plant based. So for the most part, there's always exceptions to the rule. But most veggie burgers, most vegan ketchups, most veganists have chemicals and fillers that you don't want.
Okay?
Even the best protein, even the best protein powders use monk fruit from China. And every company, I believe not everyone, but 99% uses shared machinery. In other words, when you go to store and you buy something that says all great ingredients, it'll say right on the label, shared on machinery that uses shellfish. Shellfish, soy, whatever. Right on the. Right on the package. Because they don't have their own lab and farm.
Not that that's terrible, but I don't think it's optimal. No, it's not. But we have. And we also. Here's another thing about society. We have a lot of people to feed. There's approximately 10 million milking cows in our country, 420,000 milking goats you do the math. You can't feed society on goat milk. It won't work. Not in this country. It won't work. Okay? And goats are 150 to 200 pounds approximately, like a human should be.
However, the cows are mass produced. When they say grass fed and grass finished, that's a lie. There's a point in that cow's life where that wasn't true. And I believe it's a three month window. So that means for nine months, if that cow was grass fed and grass finished, you can get away with saying it's that way. Sad but true. You can look this stuff up. And when I say grass fed, what are they doing?
A big machine's coming by and throwing grass, you know, in the animal's face, you know, for a little while. That's what that is. They're not enjoying the process. They're not grazing nice and calm. Neither are the chickens.
So there are local farms though, where you can get.
Yes, that's the best option. Okay, that is always the best option. Well, it depends on where you live. That's the other factor too.
Where you live. Now's a great time. Well, now it's kind of in October, so it depends where you live in the cold weather. Not, not so easy. It's not easy, folks, to be healthy. It's not, it's, it's, it's just not. And I do believe in protein, but I believe in, in, in digestible protein. So someone takes example my goat protein, which I have right here. Okay, My chocolate protein.
No chemicals, no fillers, no mass production. What's it say here? The lab farm manufacturer is still in the same property. The goats drink apple cider vinegar in the water every morning. And there's no other animals in the property and no shared machinery. This is the gold standard.
What does the apple cider vinegar do?
Oh, it helps. It helps their coat and everything. Helps their intestines as well. But here's the reality of it's in the water.
If you said, joe, I need a thousand bottles, I can't do it. I can't. I can't help the masses. And people say you're selfish. No, I can't. I'd have to cheat, just like in the store sometimes, you'll see. Example, I, I think we spoke about this. I know venison and elk meat blow away chicken and cow in terms of quality. But in the stores a lot of times when they do sell it, it'll say 3% cow mixed in with the deer meat.
That's Horrible. They go, we do it for flavor. No, you're doing it for cheapness, to save money.
What about bison?
I don't trust it anymore either. It's mass produced, but not as mass produced as chicken or cow. Okay? It's. It's not a perfect science, Ellen. It's not. And if you lose your mind trying to be perfect, that stress is not, it's not worth it. Not worth it.
Yeah, because the stress, the stress over trying to be perfect with your diet can actually be worse than know, letting up and eating a few things that might not be the best, but the best that you can do at the moment.
Right, Right. We, we have, we have to live in this earth like, like I live, you know, in the villages here. And everyone here goes out to eat all the time. And if I told my people, don't go out to eat, they, most of them would, they would fire me. They're going to do it. The thing I think that is that people do, which is one of the dumbest things, is they take medication with the alcohol.
Now here's the reality. If you're on three or four or five medications, you should never drink the rest of your life. And people aren't going to do that. They're not going to do it. They're going to a party, they're going to drink. My doctor said it's okay. No, we didn't. But you believe that. I can't police everyone. I can't be the food police or the alcohol police. But folks, use common sense.
Really use common sense. Protein from a cow is not the best option. Neither is butter from a cow. Neither is colostrum from a cow. That's not the best option. Goat is, but it's not easy to find. I haven't, you know, I have goat colostrum, as you know.
What is that? Tell us, tell us what that is.
Colostrum is the first milk from a mother, any mammal, the first 48 hours.
It's the most dense thing. Well, not dense. I'm sorry. It's the best thing nutrient wise for minerals and it's great for gut health. And the side effect I've heard from people is without myself is your nails might get thicker, but a couple women told me their hair was falling out. Doesn't fall out anymore. Which is great, but doesn't mean it's gonna happen for everyone. See, when you hear.
It worked that way for that person. Oh, it's gonna work that way for me. No, not necessarily. And I have no chemicals and no fillers in this as well. I mean there's only, you know, two ingredients. Colostrum from pasture. Pasture free and chemical free pastures, vegan capsules holding it together. That's it. But I make 30 bottles at a time. Then I do another batch. Okay, so this isn't sold on Amazon.
It's not sold in the stores. I, I can't do, I mean I won't do it. You know. And then, and then for cooking, we always hear about olive oil, Avocado oil. Uhuh, sorry, no. Mom's butter. Goat ghee. One ingredient. Grass fed goat milk butter. And it says smoke point of 485, which is great.
So a couple questions are coming to mind here. First of all, what is ghee and how is it different from butter? And then talk about the 485 flashpoint. Why that's important.
I will. So it's clarified butter, which means it never goes rancid. So if I ship this to you in the middle of August and it gets all liquidy when you put your refrigerator, no problem. It can be liquid solid a thousand times. Nothing's going to happen to you liquid when it's warm, probably under over 76 degrees, give or take. And then, and then under will be make it more solid.
Okay, so when you say clarified butter, for somebody like me who doesn't know what that means, what is clarified butter versus
Just, it's, it's a process. So so as, as it's made, it comes to a certain boiling point and because it's clarified when it, when it's put through the kettle and everything like that, it can it liquid solid.
In other words, when you, when you get regular butter, if you don't put in the fridge, it's going to turn and get rancid. This can never go rancid. That's the great part about clarified butter. It can never ever go rancid. Okay. It can never go rancid. [One second. Stay right, don't, don't move. Sorry about that. We had a text station.] Right. Okay. Anyway, so this is what's great about this.
The 485 smoke point means you can get to 485 without it burning the meat or causing a problem with your body as well. Because certain butters and stuff, if you cook them too hot, it's going to burn. This won't cause a burn. So what happens when it burns like olive oil for instance, if it reaches the smoke point and burns? What, what happens with the epidemic? It's almost like a charcoal.
It's going, it's Going to be nasty. It's going to turn black. You don't want that. Right. But what else does it do? Like,
I've heard it's carcinogenic.
Yes. It creates inflammation. It can. Yes. But when you taste it, it'd be so nasty. You're not. You're not going to. You're going to be like, whoa. You get away from it. I mean, you're going to back away. And that's what's great about this stuff.
And. And this takes a place of all the cooking oils, you know, Remember, every time you go to a restaurant, they cook in seed oils, safflower oil, canola oil. And when they say, we have great olive oil. No, you don't. Unless it's a hundred dollars a bottle of olive oil, it's probably going to be garbage. Sorry.
Yeah. Every. Every time I go to a restaurant and they put out olive oil, I'm like, blah.
Right. Because it usually. It smells kind of rancid. Because they buy them in these huge bottles and then. Right. By the time it gets to your table, it's just kind of. And I've asked this to people before, too, the waiters and waitresses. They said, yeah, we poured on the table, we pour it back in the thing and bring it back the next day. They all do that. They don't throw it away.
It's not used. Yeah, that's also not a good thing to do.
So. So talk to me about avocado oil, because that one's supposed to have a lower flash point or a higher flash point, I guess, so that it doesn't burn. And
yes, it's better. But here's the thing about avocado olive oil. How was it produced, in other words? No one talks about that. Besides the. Right. You want it in glass, of course.
But it's just like this. When someone says, chicken's been in red meat, Whoever said that has no idea about nutrition. They know what they're talking about. Chicken is not healthy in red meat. That's a lie. Elk and deer meat are red meat. How can chicken be healthier? Impossible. So when the avocado oil, it's sitting on the shelf, lights hitting the bottle for a few months, then you're buying it.
What happens is light destroys oils. So if you put a bottle of oil on your counter, never use it, in a few months, it's going to be less. It's going to. It's going to start evaporating. That's how it gets rancid. Because you want things in a dark place. Now with the butter won't be a problem. Okay. Mine can never go rancid. That's. So if you're buying a high quality oil like avocado oil and you store it properly, it's should be relatively safe to cook with.
But you're saying that the goat milk ghee, you could cook with that? Any type of cooking you want to do anytime, anywhere. And it's just. Yes. If I ship you a bottle, it's liquid. You want a solid. You can have a liquid or solid a million times over. That's the key with that.
All right. You know what I do with my goat milk ghee with my Mom's Butter?
What do you do?
I make my. I call it my mom's matcha. So I have this habit. Every morning I get up and I have a couple cups of matcha green tea, like the actual high quality powdered stuff. I mix it up and do the whole little ceremony. And it's just part of my morning routine. And there's this thing called bulletproof coffee that has butter and MCT oil in it.
And I thought to myself one day, I said, I wonder if I could do that with my matcha. So I started looking it up and there were people that said, yeah, we put butter or, and, or MCT oil in our matcha. And I. So I tried it and I tried it with butter first, and then I got some MCT oil and I tried that. I tried them together.
And then when I got your, your Mom's Butter, I thought, okay, let me try this. So I put a scoop, one tablespoon of Mom's Butter inside of in my matcha green tea. And I love it. So I don't. Sometimes I'll still do the MCT oil.
You know, Ellen, you never need it again because Mom's Butter is loaded naturally with mcts. It's naturally in here.
What does that mean?
Medium chain triglycerides. In other words, so it's naturally in the butter. So it's there. So you have to add it to. So if you look at the ingredients, it says right on here. It's right. It's right there. So that's a great thing to have.
So what does it say for the mct? Because that. That's interesting to me.
Right on the back. See, I have it right here.
Okay. It says right here. Medium. It's loaded with mcts. Naturally. It's right in here. Okay. Clarified butter has that in it. Naturally. In other words, you know, it's kind of like I have L. Arginine and glutathione naturally in my protein. It's naturally in the goat milk. It never has to be added. So when you add things, it's kind of like when you buy a vitamin or a supplement.
It says, we added this to it. Did you really? It's better if it's there naturally. Well, I know a lot of people have trouble with MCT oil because it'll cause digestive issues. But if it's naturally in the food, it's probably not a problem. For in most cases, I've had one or two people not like my stuff in about eight years. That's pretty good. So my percentage is 99.9%.
And those with dairy issues, 90% almost can handle this because the A2 enzymes are naturally. The problem now is you have some of these cow companies going. We have 82 cows from Europe. Is that really true? Probably not. But they claim it is because they have to keep up with the Joneses. Yeah. The best milk out there in the store is goat milk. Not oat milk. Not. Not soy milk.
Not this milk. They all have chemicals and fillers. Goat milk. One ingredient. Goat milk. I used to get. And I. And I won't say who because I don't know that it's actually legal yet. Hopefully that's one of the things that will change with this new administration, is that raw. Raw milk hopefully will become available to the public. But I had a local farmer that I would get raw goat milk from.
Now. His right. If you can. The optimal. Is like, I get mine here too. Is if there's no other animals on a property. That's the home run. No. Yeah. If you can. But do I think the administration is going to pay? I hope so. I doubt. Here's the problem. One person dies from raw milk and they say, oh, it's going to kill you. You know how many people.
Cow's milk is killed because of inflammation and mucus. Come on. Yeah, but I hope you're right. But I'm not counting on it. We'll see. Yeah. Time will tell. But I will say that I have always had problems with milk. Drinking cow's milk ever since I was a little kid. If I drank too much, I get all congested and I cough. Sniffle. You're not the only one. Yeah. Remember, remember, cow milk does.
Ellen. It. It. It actually decreases bone density. It leeches bone. So it's the opposite of what they claim. If you have bone issues, you do not want to drink cow's milk. Absolutely not. But again, the government pushes it, and remember when things. You got to take care of the masses in this country. So if something is not going to hit the masses, the goat milk will never completely catch on here.
It's impossible. We have too many people. And then, and, and also look how small the goats are. When you see a 500 pound goat then you know people are cheating. Hasn't happened yet. When you, if you see a 500 pound goat then you know people are cheating. They're giving them hormones. Oh, oh yeah. A five. I've never seen a 500 pound goat. Well, you, I hope you don't because then you know.
So, so I guess in order for everybody to have goat milk, we'll all just have to get our own goats and, and milk them ourselves. Right? I, that's not going to happen. But yeah, I mean it's, they have in the store now even though it's pasteurized, you do the best you can do. Okay. That's all you can do. So I've seen some things about different types of pasteurization.
Do you know anything about the pasteurization processes like yes, like high temperature and different things that I don't understand how all that works. And if one's hypopasteurization is better, the higher the temperature, the worse it is. Obviously. Now some vitamins do what's called flask pasteurization, which is a very low temperature. Which is the better one. When vitamins and stuff are made, Ellen, People use freeze dry or they use a heat gun or my favorite is window refraction which like a sheet of glass.
The supplements or the product goes right on the glass and the sun dries it. That's optimal. Okay, that's the best. But most people aren't going to do that. Remember we are a society where we got to feed a lot of people. It's like you know, the free lunch, reduce lunch, breakfast programs, all that stuff in schools I was on as a kid because we had no money and that was crap.
But the crap today is worse because there's more chemicals. McDonald's french fries had four ingredients in 1955. Now it has way more now with seed oils. And when these companies say oh, we now serve salad because we care. No you don't. You don't care. You're doing it because it's an image. Let's see, all the fast food places sell salad and nothing else. They go out of business in five minutes.
Yeah, it's a choice. You got. Here's the reality. Most people are going to do what they're going to do. And let me give advice, you guys out there. As Thanksgiving comes up. Most people, when they go for Thanksgiving coming up in two weeks, you're going to stuff your face. You're going to do it because you're afraid you're going to offend your grandmother or your aunt or your uncle or your friends.
Well, I don't worry about that. But that's what people do. If you're different than the norm, you will be the outcast in your family. In my family, I'm a complete outcast. They don't buy my books. I can give it to them. They won't even read them. My books are my products. My family doesn't take them. Now my mom's not alive anymore. And the reason is because I'm not to them, I'm just Joe.
I'm not the health professional. Yeah, but if their medical doctor said take five medications, oh, sure. I got a guy I play stickball with. He goes, I'm on 19 medicines. I go, why? He goes, well, I have to. Do you believe the doctor? I sure do. I said, would you jump off the bridge if the doctor said he goes, I guess I would. He's so in fear that, I'm sorry, you don't need 19 medications, but that guy's not eating healthy because he's doing like the rest of the world.
You. That kind of person is great for society. Well, that's why one of the core factors in Radical RX is radical ownership. And what that means is we have to take ownership for our own choices and correct, if we choose to stuff our faces on Thanksgiving, which I tend to do, I know what the consequences are going to be. And I know that I'm going to have to kind of double down to make sure I eat clean afterwards to make up for it.
But I know you got to know what is the consequence of my actions and take ownership of that, because that's, I think, the core issue. It's not about just not doing the things, you know, you can do stuff, you know, but you got to own the fact that you're there. There will be consequences. Good, bad, maybe not. But most people put on weight in December, so they're going to go Thanksgiving, they're going to stuff their face.
Holiday parties, they're going to stuff their face, more alcohol, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, whatever. You celebrate more, more, more. They put on £5 every December for five for 10 years. You're obese now. And then they go on a master cleanse. In January and, and then it's not going to work because what they're doing is they're going in one extreme to the other. That's the problem. It's not normal to put on £20 and lose it quickly.
That's the society and teacher. All these medications for losing weight, oh, they're, they're FDA approved. Who cares? They're going to find out years later there was a poison to it. Oh, we didn't know. Yes, they did. Sure they did. Yeah. That scares me. Yeah. I mean, I have seen people where for a short period of time, it's probably a good idea for them to be on some of those medications as a, you know, short term intervention.
But there's so many people just using it because, oh, I want to lose 5 or 10 pounds and I really don't want to change how I eat. So I'm just going to take this pill. And you know, that's, that's lazy. I think we need to take ownership and say, you know what, I have a choice. I can eat better or I can take this pill. And who knows what the results of the pill are.
I am pretty confident that if I eat well that I'm going to feel better. And I've experienced that all along, of course. Right, right. We all, we all, we all have. But people can, can make choices, Ellen. And like I said, where I live, people here go out every night. I have some people I know they have two, two or three meals a day. They go out for every single meal.
They will never cook. That's how my mom and dad were until I started cooking for them. That's. Yeah, I get it, I get it. And it's kind of sad because there's no way around it. You can't eat healthy in a restaurant. You can, you can be okay. But I'm sorry, it's. And someone goes, well, I had clean chickens. Clean. I'm sorry, the people who talk about, I eat clean.
If you eat chicken breasts, you do not eat clean. Let me say that again. If you eat chicken breast that you bought in the store, that's not clean eating. What if you bought it from the farmer at the farmer's market? Better, better. Can you trace how the chicken was taking care of its whole life? But this whole, like myself, I don't eat clean. Old time people, I eat clean.
You don't. Yeah, but, but you can do better. Example, people talk like, I like French fries. Right? You make French fries. You take purple potatoes or, you know, or yellow potatoes. You peel them, throw them into mom's butter. There's your french fries. So tell, tell me how when you say throw them into there. So what do you do? You put them in a pan or in the oven.
What do you do? Yeah, oven, glass pan. You slice them thin, you put some mom's butter on it and in about 10 minutes you got little crispy potato chips or french fry looking things. Simple, they could be done. And the funny thing is about the kids and stuff. See, when we were kids, we had a lot of candy and sugar and we didn't have the diabetic problems the kids have today because they're lazy.
And I'm telling you, Ellen, sugar is not the issue. It is, but it isn't. The real issue is chemicals and fillers. Yeah, you people come into my office and they go, I take really healthy vitamins. And I go, well, there's gelatin in these vitamins. You know what gelatin is? Animal dead animal bones. That's what that is. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah, but it says doctor recommended. I said, so what?
What doctor? The one who's getting paid. Right. Yeah. So that's, that's the world we live in. But here's the great thing. Even if your health is crappy, you can always make improvements. And the best thing you can do is add quality years to your life. That's what we want to do. We want to add quality years to our lives. Yes. Do something. Drink more water. I mean, you know, go for a walk.
As long as your feet aren't killing you, do something. But never, ever take advice. A person who has a life you do not want. So your overweight cousin is not the answer. It's kind of like taking financial advice from your broke uncle. Why would you. Oh, I'm a. That's one of them scam things. You make a million dollars, I'll listen to you. But you know, you're broke or whatever.
I mean, stay in your lane. I don't tell when a guy fixes the house, I don't tell him how to fix it. I don't have credentials in it going to do it. I stay in my lane. So what would be your number one piece of advice for somebody who wants to start eating healthier as and they don't know where to even start. What would be the number one thing you would recommend?
You're not going to believe what I'm going to say, but you're going to believe it. The number one thing you can do to get healthier is fire some of your negative Friends and relatives. That's number one. I'm not kidding. If you got one person who bitches and complains too much in your life and you can't stand them, they gotta go. When they go, watch what your life goes like.
That's number one, Ellen. Now, you're not getting rid of everyone. I get it. But if you give it a one person who bugs the crap out of you can't take it. You talk to them, they complain and they don't stop, that affects your health and your stress. Do that. Number one. Drink more water. Don't wait till you're thirsty. Do not wait till you're thirsty. Water is a whole nother issue because our water system's so bad now.
And then if you do reverse osmosis, you got to put the minerals back in. I know it's. Yeah, but, but so. But something. Here's the reality. Coke Zero diet stuff, monster drinks. Garbage, garbage, garbage. Get rid of them. Get rid of them. Yeah. Don't deprive yourself. But. But there's healthier choices. And when you read ingredients, people don't know what all these chemicals and fillers are. They read. They read ingredients and it says, oh, no, carbs must be healthy.
Loaded with chemicals. It's about the ingredients. It's not about the measuring chart. Yeah. That's where you can start. And common sense. A salad, then your animal protein. Never eat fruit as dessert. That's the worst dessert in a restaurant because it ferments in your stomach. Fruit by itself, then the salad a little while later than the animal protein. That's the best thing. Try that. It helps digestion, especially in this country.
But don't go radical. Don't go. If you go radical, it's not going to work for most people. Yeah. So the funny thing is the way I talk about RadicalRx is taking little baby steps and incrementally improving as opposed to trying to make a radical transformation all at once. The result can be radical. And some of the things that I do people think is a little bit radical, like when I always wore my barefoot shoes.
Now I have broken down and gotten some with a little bit of padding now. But yeah, you try things. Ellen, I've been. I'm 58 years young. Okay. I started getting the health food when I was in late teens. People say I can't repeat some of the words on here. I can get in trouble. But they call me every name in the book now. Some of those people buy my products.
It's interesting. It really, really is. If you Want a better life. It's going to, it's going to, it's going to cost you sometimes if you go. It's not true. Yes, it is. When you're different than the norm, whether it's family, friends, your work, playing on a sports team, you will be ostracized. Can you handle it? Most people can't, they cave. But if your health is crappy, seven day cleanse, an apple fast, a 21 day thing, it's not going to work for most people.
If so and so says it, it doesn't mean it's the gospel. And we have a lot of people this age now take medication. Those fasts and those diets on medication, you're gonna have problems. Be careful, be careful. Yeah, well, and one thing I always tell people, and it's kind of ironic because we talk about, you know, don't necessarily believe everything your doctors tell you. But just because you or I say it on here doesn't mean run out and try it.
Make sure that I'm going to give this standard disclaimer to everybody watching right now is talk to your medical professionals. And whether that's your conventional doctor or some kind of a medical professional should be helping guide you in the choices when you're. Well, hold on a second. Not for nutrition, they're not qualified for medicines. I agree a thousand percent. But how could you ask your medical doctor for nutrition advice when they have no schooling in it whatsoever?
Well, I'm saying medical professional. So if you're working with an actual nutritionist, okay, then you've got, you know, solid advice. And there's all kinds of different ways to, you know, different kinds of nutritionists out there now. And so even finding the right one. But a lot of people just try to blindly go in and start going, oh, well, I heard about this, let me try that. I heard, let me try.
And they're trying saying everything and they don't know what's working, what's not working. And I do a lot of what I call N of 1 experiments. And in statistics, N is the number of people in the sample size when they're doing a research study. So an N of one means there's one person, that's me. So I do all these little experiments to see how things will affect me.
But I try to make sure that I'm isolating one thing at a time and not just going, well, let me try these five different things. Because then I don't know what, what really helped, what didn't. That's good, that's really, that's, really, that's a great way to do it, Ellen. Well, so I'm proud of you've made some great strides in your health as well. So very proud of you.
Well, thank you. Yeah. When you first met me, I was obese and I was not in good shape. I didn't have cancer back then. But it was festering. Yeah. And it was on its way. Yeah. We didn't know. But yeah, yeah, yeah. So, but, so you gave us two things. One, you said get rid of the negativity from your life and then you said number two was what?
Drink more water before you're thirsty. Okay, very good, very important. And if you could do this, here's the New Year's resolution. Starting now. Get rid of your microwave. Don't use it radiates the food. My opinion and you can give me studies both ways. It's true. It's not true. In the late 70s when we had a microwave in house, I remember this when we first had one, I, I, I was at 12 and we used, I used the microwave and, and I was making like some kind of macaroni and cheese thing.
It was half on fire, half frozen. I said, this can't be good. And that was it. So cut back on the microwave as well. There's my three things of advice. Okay. For this year and if you can do that, make an improvements. And, and as I said, and you were saying too, don't try to get really radical all at once. Just incremental improvements. Pick one thing to focus on, get that down and then go on to the next.
So enjoy the process. Like I have people I work with, I do one on one rehab here and they keep coming back because they like the process. I mean we do balance reaction drills, all different things they never seen before. And it's fun and they like it. So they're going to come back and they enjoy the journey. They leave here smiling, feeling better. That's important to me. Yeah, they like the whole process.
I mean that's, if they hated it, they wouldn't come back no matter how good I am. That's a good point. And you know, even like I have metastatic breast cancer, stage four. And do I have a lot of pain? A lot of things that happen that I, that are difficult for me. But every day I try to do something to bring joy in my life and to bring joy to somebody else and, and just enjoy my life.
I want to enjoy every single day and not just, you know, be stewing in the fact that I have this condition. And, you know, I think that mindset really helps a lot. So enjoy. Enjoy the journey is a really good, good point there. So anything else you want to say before we wrap up, Joe?
