NaPodPoMo 2024 – Day 3 – A Quick Check-In and a Moment to Breathe

Hello, everyone. This is Ellen Martin with another episode of the RadicalRx Show.

Thank you for tuning in!

Today’s episode is going to be a little different. It’s Day 3 of NaPodPoMo, National Podcast Post Month, and unfortunately, I’m still a bit under the weather with bronchitis.

My voice is feeling it, and I have that stuffy-headed feeling that I’m sure many of you can relate to this time of year.

So, today, I want to keep it short and personal. I know that sometimes we set these big goals for ourselves, like posting every day in November for NaPodPoMo, and it can feel challenging to keep up—especially when life throws us curveballs, like getting sick.

But I also think there’s power in honoring where we’re at, even if that means slowing down a little.

In fact, I’ll be using this time to lean into one of my own RadicalRx practices: Radical Selfcare, which includes rest and recovery. Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is allow ourselves to take a step back and just breathe.

Inhale… hold… and exhale.

So.. I went on the Podcasters Cruise a couple of weeks ago and said I was going to do some Radical Selfcare while on the cruise. I did treat myself to the Spa Thermals and spent a good hour or two relaxing in the hot tub, sauna, and steam room…

But… I also overindulged in all the good foods… and despite my best efforts, I didn’t get as much rest as I normally do at home. I think that may have played into my getting sick when I got home. My body said “Oh no you don’t! You’re not giving yourself enough downtime!”

So, while I do give myself the grace to over-indulge now and then, now I need to re-commit to my Radical Selfcare routine so that my body can heal.

Does that mean I won’t be continuing NaPodPoMo? Nope… I’m still committed to daily posts. It’s actually part of my own RadicalRx healing process to write and get my thoughts out on paper or audio, and this is one way for me to do that!

I also want to share a little preview of an upcoming episode about a practice you may not have heard of: forest bathing.

It’s a beautiful way of connecting deeply with nature, by immersing ourselves in the sights, sounds, and scents of the forest to feel more grounded and rejuvenated.

Even just a short time in nature can have a powerful effect on our minds and bodies, especially when we’re feeling worn down or need a reset.

I’m looking forward to exploring this with you soon, so stay tuned!

But before I sign off, I want to remind you to breath…

Inhale… hold… and exhale.

Remember, it’s okay to give yourself a moment to just breathe. Sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

I have a Spotify Playlist that I curated called “Breathe”. I’ll post the link in the comments so you can check it out and use it as tool to help you remember to breathe!

Thank you for joining me for this short episode today. I appreciate you being here, and I’m grateful for this community that gives me space to share—whether it’s big ideas or just a simple check-in like today. Take care, everyone. I’ll be back tomorrow with more. Until then, be kind to yourself, take a deep breath, and remember, the RadicalRx journey is all about healing, one step at a time.
